FAQ -Frequently Asked Questions
Will the iPhone 13 have Touch ID

In the weeks and months ahead of the official reveal, there were some rumors that Apple would equip the iPhone 13 with an in-display fingerprint sensor. At Apple Event, the company confirmed that the new generation of iPhone 13 series would stick with FaceID technology, which it claimed is more secure, works in more angles, and it can be used to unlock the device, use as a password to log into the device and third-party services, and it can even unlock the device while wearing glasses or a face mask.

Will the iPhone 13 have 3D Touch?

3D Touch can sense the pressure of the user’s fingertip, and it can show additional information. The feature retired with the iPhone Xs series, and it hasn’t returned since. The iPhone 13 does not support 3D Touch. However, it has a similar functionality that lets users experience the same by holding onto certain elements and buttons on the homescreen, and in supported applications for longer.

Will the iPhone 13 have a 120hz display

No, the iPhone 13 is limited to a 60Hz display, and only the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max supports the 120Hz ProMotion adaptive refresh rate technology. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are limited to 60Hz.

Will the iPhone 13 have USB C?

The simple answer is no, the longer answer is slightly more complicated. Apple is adamant about using the Lightning connector, and the iPhone 13 does not have a USB-C port. The entire iPhone 13 lineup uses the Lightning port to charge the device and to transfer data. While Apple switched to the USB-C port on most of its other Pro products, and even on the new iPad mini, the company refuses to offer it for its iPhone devices.

Will the iPhone 13 have an M1 Chip?

We heard several rumors claiming the iPhone 13 would go down the iPad route and use Apple’s own M1 chip. Instead, Apple made more changes to its already class-leading A15 Bionic chip and used it in the iPhone 13.
The new chipset provides more efficiency thanks to the 2 performance cores and the 4 power efficiency cores. The A15 Bionic chip is still using the 5nm technology, and it has a 4-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine for all of the AI processing that is computed on-device.

Is the iPhone 13 waterproof?

Apple has certified every single flagship with an IP certification since the iPhone 7 series, and it’s the same this time around with the iPhone 13. It comes with an IP68 certification, which means that it can withstand a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes in clean water. It’s also dust resistant, which means that it’s safe to carry it down to the beach as dust won’t be able to get into the device.
Do note however that we strongly advise against submerging the device in water, and using it in a shower as accidents happen, and water damage is not covered under warranty. Also note that water and technology are not good friends together, and mixing the two can cause unrepairable damages and cause data loss.

Will iPhone 13 have MagSafe?

Yes, the iPhone 13 supports the newly introduced MagSafe wireless charging technology that was introduced last year. MagSafe can attach to the back of the iPhone 13 magnetically.

Does the iPhone 13 come with a charger?

Like the iPhone 12 Series, the iPhone 13 does not come bundled with a wall adapter to charge the device, instead, it only comes with a Lightning to USB-C cable. If you want to buy a power adapter, Apple is selling its own charger separately for $19.

The wall charger does not come bundled with the iPhone 13, and you have to purchase it separately.

Is the iPhone 13 portless?

No, the iPhone 13 features the traditional Lighting port on the bottom of the device. We may see a portless iPhone in the future, but it may require Apple a few more years until it can make MagSafe an even better option.

Is the iPhone 13 dual sim?

All iPhones since the Xs series feature dual SIM support, although it comes with a physical single SIM tray and an additional eSim support. The iPhone 13 will only have a dual SIM slot in China, where the feature is far more popular than in other parts of the world.

Is the iPhone 13 5g compatible?

Yes, the iPhone 13 supports 5G connectivity. The new series supports even more bands, ensuring that it can work with even more network providers worldwide. In the US, most carriers will support the iPhone 13, and it’s compatible with the mmWave and sub-6Ghz bands.

Will there be a foldable / flip iPhone 13?

There are rumors of Apple working on foldable and potentially flip iPhones, these will not be available anytime soon, in fact, we have no information on when these products will launch officially. A number of reliable leakers and analysts claim that we may see a foldable iPhone in 2023, which means that we are still at least two years away from seeing such a product.

Will the iPhone 13 have a notch?

Yes, it’s still here, but it’s 20-percent smaller than on previous iPhones that had the notch. Apple managed to shrink the sensors that are required for the FaceID functionality, which allowed the company to decrease the size. Unfortunately, we are still a few years away from having a completely notch-free iPhone.

Is the iPhone 13 bezel less or offer a smaller notch?

Although a lot of advertisements claim the iPhone 13 is bezel-less and bezel-free, it still has a bezel, albeit very small. The notch also still takes up a considerable amount of space, even though Apple managed to shrink it by 20-percent.

Does the iPhone 13 come with AirPods?

The iPhone 13 doesn’t come bundled with AirPods or any audio accessories. You are required to purchase the AirPods separately if you would like to listen to any audio wirelessly. The iPhone 13 still supports audio devices via the Lightning port, although you must purchase a separate dongle that allows you to connect it to the device.

Will the iPhone 13 have a home button?

The iPhone 13 doesn’t have a home button, and it uses the new gesture navigation that was introduced with the iPhone X back in 2017.

Is there an iPhone 13 Mini?

What are the storage options for the iPhone 13?

The iPhone 13 will be available in three storage variants, including a 128GB, 256GB, and a 512GB option. The price for the base 128GB model starts at $829, while the 256GB will go for $100 more at $929, and the biggest 512GB model will cost $200 more at $1,129.

How many cameras does the iPhone 13 have?

The iPhone 13 has two rear cameras, a 12MP f/1.6 aperture wide sensor with 1.7µm, sensor-shift stabilization, and dual pixel autofocus. The secondary camera is a 12MP ultrawide with an f/2.4 aperture, providing a 120-degree viewing angle. The camera setup also includes a dual-led dual-tone flash and microphones. The selfie camera is a 12MP f/2.2 aperture wide sensor on the front, which lets you take photos of friends and family.

Does the iPhone 13 take astrophotography photos?

While the iPhone 13 doesn’t explicitly mention that it cannot take astrophotography images, the camera can capture the night sky in more than enough detail. Some editing may be required; however, this year’s iPhones are the best yet, when it gets to low-light photography or taking images at night. There are third-party applications available that can allow you to unlock the full potential of the camera setup, although a tripod is strongly advised when taking long-exposure images at night.

Does the iPhone 13 work with QI charging

Yes, the iPhone 13 will support Qi wireless charging, but keep in mind that this will be limited to 7.5W only. Non-certified chargers may not charge at all or charge at 5W or less.

What is the charging speed of the iPhone 13?

The iPhone 13 can charge at 20W via a wire or 15W via MagSafe wireless charging with Apple’s 20W power adapter. The device is also Qi-compatible, although it is limited to only 7.5W of charging, and non-Apple certified chargers may only charge the iPhone 13 at 5W or less.

Does the iPhone 13 support satellite communication?

We heard several rumors of the iPhone 13 supporting a new satellite communication; however, it turned out to be false, and the iPhone 13 does not support such technology. The satellite communication technology would have allowed the devices to make calls via Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. We have written an article that explains the technology in more detail.

Does the iPhone 13 support Wifi 6e?

The previous generation of iPhone 12 series only featured Wi-Fi 6, and unfortunately, it’s the same for this year’s iPhone 13 Series. The iPhone 13 supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with 2×2 MIMO, and it does not support the faster and more reliable Wi-Fi 6e technology.

The iPhone 13 will cost $829 in the United States, and if you want to take advantage of carrier discounts, it can be yours for $799.
